Why
In 2019 the Robert Wood Johnson ranked Petersburg, Virginia as the last of Virginia's 133 counties in health rankings.
Due to the pandemic, it has been estimated that 15 million people may face food insecurities in 2021.
As a result two factors that have influenced food insecurity rates are unemployment and poverty, which was low at the beginning of the pandemic
How
Working Together with community leaders, schools, and local governments to come up with initiatives
Developing 2 Programs geared to alleviate current food desert circumstances within the Petersburg area
Raising Awareness among the community about the increased radius between access to healthy food sources and low-income families
